About Nicole Osborne

Hello There! My name is Nicole, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate who specializes in helping children and adults navigate uncomfortable feelings and behaviors. I graduated from Florida State University with a Masters in Social Work and hold an associate clinical license issued by the board of North Carolina. I am trained in Person Centered Therapy (PCT), Crisis Prevention Verbal Intervention (CPI), and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (LGBTQIA+). I have extensive experience working with children and families, those who experience mood disorders (such as Depression, Anxiety, and Bipolar Disorder), and those who have been diagnosed with Substance Use Disorder.

Growing up, I always felt that my emotions were “too big” for my body, which helped me realize that balancing how you feel and what to do with it is a learned skill that requires practice and guidance. My personal journey working with therapists and licensed specialists led me to discover healthy coping strategies for big emotions, while my four-year experience as an elementary school teacher has helped me translate those skills into a child-friendly environment.

How Can I Help?

My practice is centered on using skills that can help clients regulate their emotions immediately, while also being effective for long-term use.  I am dedicated to building a strong therapeutic alliance with my clients through empathy, unconditional positive regard, non-judgment, and the understanding that being unsure of how to help your child (or yourself) is a complex and scary experience.

My goal is to provide support and promote emotional well-being, helping children, families, and individuals navigate difficult emotions by safely exploring where they came from and how to live in harmony with them. Together we will build a toolbox of skills that can help you feel empowered, in- control, and confident within your emotional experience.

Our sessions together are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client in a safe trauma-informed space, drawing on elements from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Play Therapy to get to the root of emotional trauma and address socioemotional dysregulation. My core philosophy is "I am here—I hear you—I understand—I care—and I delight in you."

Child Therapy

During our sessions, I will create a safe environment for your child where we build trust and experience our feelings through play! Drawing from empirically proven Play Therapy, we use play, toys, and games to help your child express their feelings, develop coping mechanisms, enhance their relationships, and build self esteem.

The play therapy process includes once a month parent meetings and is designed to support parents in understanding and addressing emotional trauma with their child.

Parent Counseling

Parent- Child Counseling sessions focus on enhancing communication and strengthening the parent-child relationship. Drawing from Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), parents can practice and utilize the same skills their child experiences in the playroom. Parents can learn to validate and nurture their children, while implementing healthy ways to issue clear commands, consistent limits, and predictable consequences.

Parent-Child counseling sessions provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment for parents to address emotional challenges, improve understanding, and foster deeper connections.

Individual Therapy

I provide individualized counseling for those experiencing difficult moods, offering a supportive and non-judgmental space to navigate emotional challenges. My approach integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and a Solution-Oriented Modality to build practical tools for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and healthier relationships.

With a trauma-informed approach at the heart of our work, I honor your story, move at your pace, and focus on helping you feel empowered, grounded, and cared for throughout your healing journey.
